Initial Performance of a Prototype Small Animal PET Scanner Consisting of Long Semi-Monolithic Scintillator Detectors [PDF]

open access: yesSensors
Semi-monolithic scintillator detectors possess not only the inherent depth of interaction (DOI) encoding capability of monolithic scintillator detectors but also reduced edge effects compared to monolithic scintillator detectors.

Image quality evaluation of a small animal PET scanner [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences, 2020
Performance testing of small animal PET scanners is very important to ensure the high performance required for this particular type of PET scanner. In this sense, National Electrical Manufactures Association (NEMA) published its NU 4/2008 standards, a ...

Temperature dependence of the LabPET small-animal PET scanner [PDF]

open access: yes2012 IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference Record (NSS/MIC), 2012
INTRODUCTION In quantitative PET imaging it is important to correct for all image-degrading effects, for example detector efficiency variation. Detector efficiency variation depends on the stability of detector efficiency when operating conditions vary within normal limits.

Quality control of small animal PET scanner: The Brazilian Scenario

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences, 2020
This work aims to evaluate the quality control program for small animal PET (positron emission tomography) scanners in Brazil. A questionnaire focused on type of small animal PET scanner and quality assurance program was prepared and sent to all ...

Development of a PET Scanner for Simultaneously Imaging Small Animals with MRI and PET [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2014
Recently, positron emission tomography (PET) is playing an increasingly important role in the diagnosis and staging of cancer. Combined PET and X-ray computed tomography (PET-CT) scanners are now the modality of choice in cancer treatment planning.

Instrumentation Digital Twins in PET and SPECT Imaging: Current Status, Challenges, and Future Directions [PDF]

open access: yesComputational and Structural Biotechnology Journal
Introduction: Digital twins (DTs) in nuclear medicine are data-synchronized, physics-based models that replicate positron emission tomography (PET) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) systems by linking validated simulations with ...

Dual-domain transformer-based learned primal-dual reconstruction for PET imaging [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Nuclear Medicine
Background and ObjectivePositron Emission Tomography (PET) is widely used for assessing metabolic activity and diagnosing cancer. Due to the inherently high noise levels in PET data, advanced reconstruction algorithms are essential for accurate imaging ...

Spatial Resolution and Sensitivity of the Inveon Small-Animal PET Scanner [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nuclear Medicine, 2009
The Inveon small-animal PET scanner is characterized by a large, 127-mm axial length and a 161-mm crystal ring diameter. The associated high sensitivity is obtained by using all lines of response (LORs) up to the maximum ring difference (MRD) of 79, for which the most oblique LORs form acceptance angles of 38.3 degrees with transaxial planes.
