A combined micro-PET/CT scanner for small animal imaging
A micro-PET/CT system was developed by combination of an in-house micro-CT and a microPET® R4 scanner. The cone-beam micro-CT consists of a rotational gantry that fits an X-ray tube, a CCD-based X-ray detector, and motor-driven linear stages. The gantry was designed to be coaxial with the scanner of microPET® R4.

YAP-(S)PET small animal scanner: Quantitative results
At present, at the Dept of Experimental and Clinical Medicine of the University of Ferrara, the YAP-(S)PET scanner is employed in small animal SPECT studies, with 99mTc labelled radiotracers, dedicated to obtain quantitative activity measurements in a region of interest (ROI) directly from a reconstructed image of a rat, with respect to the traditional

An MR compatible PET scanner for imaging small animals
Combined PET-CT scanners are becoming standard for clinical PET imaging. The development of a combined PET-MR scanner poses greater technological challenges. A prototype small animal MR compatible PET scanner has previously been designed, constructed and evaluated in collaboration with UCLA School of Medicine.

Design of a small animal MR compatible PET scanner
IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1999Using a combination of Monte Carlo simulations and experimental measurements we have designed a small-animal MRI-compatible PET (McPET) scanner for simultaneous PET imaging and MRI of mice and rats in vivo. The scanner consists of one ring of 480 LSO (Lu/sub 2/SiO/sub 5/) crystals arranged in three layers, with 160 crystals per layer.
