A stepwise emergence of evolution in the RNA world

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
How did biological evolution emerge from chemical reactions? This perspective proposes a gradual scenario of self‐organization among RNA molecules, where catalytic feedback on random mixtures plays the central role. Short oligomers cross‐ligate, and self‐assembly enables heritable variations. An event of template‐externalization marks the transition to

Modifications in FLAP's second cytosolic loop influence 5‐LOX interaction, inhibitor binding, and leukotriene formation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The enzyme 5‐lipoxygenase (5‐LOX) catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes (LTs) involved in inflammatory pathophysiology. After cellular stimulation, 5‐LOX translocates to the nucleus, interacting with the 5‐LOX‐activating protein (FLAP) to form LTA4 from arachidonic acid (AA).

Mass of the Frobenius functional on small balls [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We show that for a co-compact lattice in a semi-simple quasi-split real group and a fixed abstractly generic automorphic representation, Frobenius functional assigns small mass to small balls in the Orbit Method picture of P. Nelson and A. Venkatesh (Acta Math., 226, (2021), 1-209).

Recent Progress in Understanding Quark and Gluon Distribution Functions for Large Nuclei at Small x [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1993
I discuss the problem of computing the structure functions for very heavy nuclei at small Bjorken x. The approximations used in this description are physically motivated, and recent computations reviewed.

Brucella NyxA and NyxB dimerization enhances effector function during infection

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Brucella abortus thrives inside cells thanks to the translocation of effector proteins that fine‐tune cellular functions. NyxA and NyxB are two effectors that destabilize the nucleolar localization of their host target, SENP3. We show that the Nyx proteins directly interact with each other and that their dimerization is essential for their function ...

Bilateral Small Lebesgue Spaces [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
In this article we investigate the so-called Bilateral Small Lebesgue Spaces: prove that they are associated to the Grand Lebesgue spaces, calculate its fundamental functions and Boyd's indices find its dual spaces etc.

The carboxylate “gripper” of the substrate is critical for C‐4 stereo‐inversion by UDP‐glucuronic acid 4‐epimerase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
UDP‐glucuronic acid 4‐epimerase (UGAepi) catalyzes NAD+‐dependent interconversion of UDP‐glucuronic acid (UDP‐GlcA) and UDP‐galacturonic acid (UDP‐GalA) via C4‐oxidation, 4‐keto‐intermediate rotation, and C4‐reduction. Here, Borg et al. examined the role of the substrate's carboxylate group in the enzymic mechanism by analyzing NADH‐dependent reduction

C^1-regularity for local graph representations of immersions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We consider immersions admitting uniform graph representations over the affine tangent space over a ball of fixed radius r>0. We show that for sufficiently small C^0-norm of the graph functions, each graph function is smooth with small C^1-norm.
