Baseline Regional Cholinergic Denervation Predicts Cognitive Trajectories in Moderate Parkinson Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cognitive decline is a disabling and variable feature of Parkinson disease (PD). While cholinergic system degeneration is linked to cognitive impairments in PD, most prior research reported cross‐sectional associations. We aimed to fill this gap by investigating whether baseline regional cerebral vesicular acetylcholine transporter ...

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Impact of Wheel-rail Lubrication on Outer Rail Wear in Metro Small Radius Curved Segments

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
[Objective] For metro lines with high proportion of small radius curved segments and severe rail wear, lubrication can alter wheel-rail contact area friction coefficient and in turn effectively reduce rail wear, thus it is necessary to study the ...

Study on the Horizontal Axis Deviation of a Small Radius TBM Tunnel Based on Winkler Foundation Model

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
During the construction stage of the small radius TBM (tunnel boring machine) interval, the improper control of the boring parameters and the boring posture can cause the horizontal axis deviation of the shield tunnel. In order to address this issue, the

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Analysis on the Causes of Cracks in Curved Box Girder Bridges with Small Radius

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2020
Abstract At present, curved box girder bridges with small radius is widely used in modern highway and urban road interchange flyover, especially in the design of ramp bridge of interchange flyover. Taking the ramp of Liaoyang Road to Haier Road Flyover in Laoshan District of Qingdao as an example, this paper calculates and compares the ...

Research on a Trackside Concrete Reinforcement Scheme of a Small Radius Curve at a Junction Section of a Modern Tram

open access: yesSlovak Journal of Civil Engineering, 2021
In order to ensure the normal use of a junction section of a modern tram, this paper mainly studied a trackside concrete reinforcement scheme. Firstly, the entire non-reinforcement system model with a small radius curve composed of rail, fastener ...
