Seshadri constants on smooth threefolds
advg, 2014Abstract We prove that the Seshadri constant of an ample line bundle at a very general point of a smooth projective threefold is larger than 1/2. While falling short of the conjectured lower bound of one, this improves on known results. We systematically exploit new results and ideas related to the variation and complexity of base loci.

The paper deals with smooth asymptotic constants [see \textit{H. Baumgärtel} and \textit{M. Wollenberg}, Math. Nachr., 119, 15-40 (1984; Zbl 0577.47010), and Commun. Math. Phys. 94, 331-352 (1984; Zbl 0578.47007)]. In particular, for given two unitaries \(X_{\pm}\) commuting with a selfadjoint H, a unitary s.a.c.

Smooth curves of constant width
The Mathematical Gazette, 1976The construction of curves of constant width using circular arcs is well known; the procedure may be found, for example, in [1]. This article describes a different method for constructing a family of ‘smooth’ curves of constant width. Basic properties of such curves may be found in [1]. Let C

I-SMOOTH: Iteratively Smoothing Mean-Constrained and Nonnegative Piecewise-Constant Functions
INFORMS Journal on Computing, 2013Continuous nonnegative functions, such as Poisson rate functions, are sometimes approximated as piecewise-constant functions. We consider the problem of automatically smoothing such functions while maintaining the integral of each piece and maintaining nonnegativity everywhere, without specifying a parametric function.

Smooth Curves of Constant width and Transnormality
Bulletin of the London Mathematical Society, 1984The author gives a state of the art report on transnormal submanifolds. After some historical comments the following topics are dealt with in this context: curves and hypersurfaces of constant width, transnormality, generating frames, products, applications of elementary Morse theory, special geometric properties, Riemannian transnormality, transnormal
