Scientists' warning on the need for greater inclusion of dragonflies in global conservation

Insect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Stressors to dragonflies are multiple, and in many cases interactive. Specialist species are at risk, while generalists can benefit from some human activities. Dragonflies are sentinels for conservation, being promising surrogates for other taxa while also being appealing to citizen science initiatives.

‘Disease‐smart’ outcrossing can enhance individual fitness and increase survival via immune priming against pathogens: New approaches to strengthen genetic rescue efforts

Our study provides a proof of concept for combining immune priming with assisted migration for insect conservation. Introducing genetically diverse, immune‐primed migrants improves both pathogen resistance and reproductive success in inbred individuals.
