Characteristic Matrices and Trellis Reduction for Tail-Biting Convolutional Codes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Basic properties of a characteristic matrix for a tail-biting convolutional code are investigated. A tail-biting convolutional code can be regarded as a linear block code. Since the corresponding scalar generator matrix Gt has a kind of cyclic structure, an associated characteristic matrix also has a cyclic structure, from which basic properties of a ...

Approximate Linear Time ML Decoding on Tail-Biting Trellises in Two Rounds [PDF]

open access: yesProc. ISIT 2006, pp.2245-2249, 2006
A linear time approximate maximum likelihood decoding algorithm on tail-biting trellises is prsented, that requires exactly two rounds on the trellis. This is an adaptation of an algorithm proposed earlier with the advantage that it reduces the time complexity from O(mlogm) to O(m) where m is the number of nodes in the tail-biting trellis.

Comparative evaluation of adverse effects in the use of powder trivalent antivenom and liquid antivenoms in Bothrops snake bites.

open access: yesRevista da Sociedade Brasileira de Medicina Tropical, 2012
INTRODUCTION Snake bite, a problem in public health, generally occurs where there is no electric power. METHODS A comparative clinical study was conducted with 102 victims of Bothrops snake bite, from the state of Amazonas, Brazil; 58 victims were ...

Reduction of Error-Trellises for Tail-Biting Convolutional Codes Using Shifted Error-Subsequences [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
In this paper, we discuss the reduction of error-trellises for tail-biting convolutional codes. In the case where some column of a parity-check matrix has a monomial factor (with indeterminate D), we show that the associated tail-biting error-trellis can be reduced by cyclically shifting the corresponding error-subsequence by l (the power of D) time ...

Treatment of Snake Bite. [PDF]

open access: yesJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1897
Sierra Mojada, Mexico, Nov. 8, 1897. To the Editor: —In theJournalof October 30 J. G. Tuten, M.D., Jesup, Ga., gives a lengthy description of the treatment of a snake bite. The doctor's patient was long suffering and that he was kind is evident from the fact that he didn't change doctors. The grave symptoms, horrible suffering and extensive sloughing
