Field Trials and Baking Studies of Ultra‐Low Asparagine, Genome Edited (CRISPR/Cas9) and Mutant (TILLING) Wheat

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Field trials were conducted of wheat (Triticum aestivum) cv. Cadenza in which asparagine synthetase gene, TaASN2, had been knocked out, either on its own or together with a partial knockout of the related gene, TaASN1, using CRISPR/Cas9. Chemical mutagenesis (TILLING) TaASN2 nulls in the Claire background were also included.

Generalized Chaplygin Gas Models tested with SNIa

open access: yes, 2004
The so called Generalized Chaplygin Gas (GCG) with the equation of state $p = - \frac{A}{{\rho}^{\alpha}}$ was recently proposed as a candidate for dark energy in the Universe. In this paper we confront the GCG with SNIa data. Specifically we have tested

Future Type Ia Supernova Data as Tests of Dark Energy from Modified Friedmann Equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In the Cardassian model, dark energy density arises from modifications to the Friedmann equation, which becomes $H^2 = g(\rhom)$, where $g(\rhom)$ is a new function of the energy density. The universe is flat, matter dominated, and accelerating.

New Integrative Vectors Increase Agrobacterium rhizogenes Transformation and Help Characterise Roles for Soybean GmTML Gene Family Members

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hairy‐root transformation is widely used to generate transgenic plant roots for genetic functional characterisation studies. However, transformation efficiency can be limited, largely due to the use of binary vectors. Here, we report on the development of novel integrative vectors that significantly increase the transformation efficiency of ...

Unveiling Potato Cultivars With Microbiome Interactive Traits for Sustainable Agricultural Production

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Root traits significantly shape rhizosphere microbiomes, yet their interaction with microbes is often overlooked in plant breeding programs. Here, we propose that selecting modern cultivars based on microbiome interactive trait (MIT), such as root biomass, exudate patterns and the rhizosphere microbiome, can enhance agricultural sustainability
