The Effect of Demineralization on Coal Functional Group Pyrolysis: Rank‐Dependent Dual Mechanisms of Structural Reorganization and Mineral Catalysis

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Coal pyrolysis, as a key thermochemical conversion process, is significantly influenced by inherent minerals, yet their role across different coal ranks remains inadequately understood. This study investigates the effect of acid‐washing (demineralization) on the thermal decomposition of six functional groups (aliphatic C–H, aromatic C–H/C=C, C=

Ultrasound–Calcination Synergistic Control of (Ce, La)PO4 Catalyst Structure for Enhanced Low‐Temperature NH3‐SCR Performance

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, (Ce, La)PO4 catalysts were synthesized via an ultrasound‐assisted method. The effects of ultrasound duration and calcination temperature on the low‐temperature NH3‐SCR performance were systematically investigated. The results indicated that the (Ce, La)PO4 catalyst prepared with an ultrasound treatment time of 20 min and a ...

Comparative Analyses of Physiological Responses of Cynodon dactylon Accessions from Southwest China to Sulfur Dioxide Toxicity

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
Sulfur dioxide (SO2), a major air pollutant in developing countries, is highly toxic to plants. To achieve better air quality and landscape, planting appropriate grass species in severe SO2 polluted areas is very critical. Cynodon dactylon, a widely used

Technobiological Pathways for High‐CO₂ Capture Using Micro‐/Macroalgae: Genetic Engineering, Process Automation, and Value‐Added Bioproducts

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have emerged as one of the most critical drivers of climate change; this is primarily due to high concentrations and long atmospheric life of carbon dioxide (CO2). For a significant amount of time, various biological processes such as microalgal cultivation, cyanobacterial systems, photosynthetic microorganisms ...

Selective Sequestration of Toxic NOx Gases by P‐Doped Graphene: A Density Functional Theory Study

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
P‐doped graphene (P‐grap) is explored as an NOx sensor through DFT simulations. The analysis of its geometry, binding energies, electronic properties, and atom‐in‐molecule characteristics demonstrates that P‐grap is a selective sensor for NOx among a mixture of various gases.

Kinetics of thermochemical gas-solid reactions important in the Venus sulfur cycle [PDF]

open access: yes
The thermochemical net reaction CaCO3 + SO2 yields CaSO4 + CO is predicted to be an important sink for incorporation of SO2 into the Venus crust. The reaction rate law was established to understand the dependence of rate on experimental variables such as

Comparative Study of High Voltage Spinel∥Lithium Titanate Lithium‐ion Batteries in Ethylene Carbonate Free Electrolytes

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
FEC and sulfone‐based co‐solvents are investigated as EC‐free electrolytes for LNMO∥LTO cells. FEC‐containing electrolytes demonstrate enhanced electrochemical stability by stabilizing the CEI and SEI layers, mitigating transition metal migration. Conversely, sulfone electrolytes form thinner CEIs and thick, sulfur‐rich SEIs, which are less effective ...

Clean Air For Less: Exploiting Tradeoffs Between Different Air Pollutants [PDF]

open access: yes
The Administration's Clear Skies initiative and all competing legislative proposals take a pollutant-by-pollutant approach to address air pollution problems caused by emissions of both nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulfur dioxide (SO2).

Understanding Degradation Mechanisms in Water‐In‐Salt Electrolyte. Part 2: Impact of the Electrochemical Parameters on the Cycling Behavior of LiFePO4 versus TiS2

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
Cycling water‐in‐salt batteries involves complex degradation processes that require multiprobe analysis. Using online electrochemical mass spectrometry (OEMS), postmortem X‐ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) (including hard‐XPS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the degradation mechanisms are examined in composite electrodes (TiS2 and LiFePO4)
