Forecasting elections results via the voter model with stubborn nodes

open access: yesApplied Network Science, 2021
In this paper we propose a novel method to forecast the result of elections using only official results of previous ones. It is based on the voter model with stubborn nodes and uses theoretical results developed in a previous work of ours.

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Three-Stage Cascade Information Attenuation for Opinion Dynamics in Social Networks

open access: yesEntropy
In social network analysis, entropy quantifies the uncertainty or diversity of opinions, reflecting the complexity of opinion dynamics. To enhance the understanding of how opinions evolve, this study introduces a novel approach to modeling opinion ...

Conductive Hydrogels for Exogenous Sensing and Cell Fate Control

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We engineer electrically conductive hydrogels by combining sulfated glycosaminoglycans with semiconducting polymers. These hydrogels bind bioactive proteins, including growth factors, whose release or retention can be modulated by low‐voltage stimulation. The hydrogels are also integrated as 3D channels in organic electrochemical transistors as part of

Game-theoretical approach for opinion dynamics on social networks

open access: yesChaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2022
Opinion dynamics on social networks have received considerable attentions in recent years. Nevertheless, just a few works have theoretically analyzed the condition in which a certain opinion can spread in the whole structured population. In this article, we propose an evolutionary game approach for a binary opinion model to explore the conditions for ...

Opinion Dynamics and the Evolution of Social Power in Influence Networks

open access: yesSIAM Review, 2015
Summary: This paper studies the evolution of self-appraisal, social power, and interpersonal influences for a group of individuals who discuss and form opinions about a sequence of issues. Our empirical model combines the averaging rule of DeGroot to describe opinion formation processes and the reflected appraisal mechanism of Friedkin to describe the ...
