RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

QUOTE: "Querying" Users as Oracles in Tag Engines - A Semi-Supervised Learning Approach to Personalized Image Tagging

open access: yes, 2016
One common trend in image tagging research is to focus on visually relevant tags, and this tends to ignore the personal and social aspect of tags, especially on photoblogging websites such as Flickr.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Measuring Similarity in Large-Scale Folksonomies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Social (or folksonomic) tagging has become a very popular way to describe content within Web 2.0 websites. Unlike\ud taxonomies, which overimpose a hierarchical categorisation of content, folksonomies enable end-users to freely create and choose the ...

Why do Users Tag? Detecting Users’ Motivation for Tagging in Social Tagging Systems

open access: yesProceedings of the International AAAI Conference on Web and Social Media, 2010
While recent progress has been achieved in understanding the structure and dynamics of social tagging systems, we know little about the underlying user motivations for tagging, and how they influence resulting folksonomies and tags. This paper addresses three issues related to this question: 1.) What motivates users to tag resources ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

DC-Social Tagging Workshop

open access: yes, 2009
[Extract] 1. Introduction The so-called Web 2.0 brought a new breadth to the Internet, and a social perspective that seems set to stay. Services such as LinkedIn, Hi5, and Facebook have found a place in our society. People connect to each other through common paths.
