Government size and trust [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper uses individual level data (the Japanese General Social Survey) to examine how government size influences generalized trust. After controlling for the endogeneity of government size using instrumental variables, I found: (1) Using all samples,

Re-Audit of Adherence to Antipsychotic Prescribing Guidelines in a Psychiatric Unit for Older Adult Females: Evaluating Improvements and Compliance Post-Interventions

open access: yesBJPsych Open
Aims: The aim of this audit was to assess adherence to antipsychotic prescribing guidelines in one of the Older Adults Female wards at Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT).

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Challenges and Delay in Treatment With Clozapine Due to Thrombocytopenia: A Case Study

open access: yesBJPsych Open
Aims Clozapine is the most effective antipsychotic medication for patients with treatment-resistant psychotic disorders. Its discontinuation can precipitate relapse that can be often challenging to treat.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Assessing Adherence to Antipsychotic Prescribing and Monitoring Guidelines in a Psychiatric Unit for Older Adult Females in Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT): A Retrospective Audit

open access: yesBJPsych Open
Aims Antipsychotic medications are commonly used in the management of psychiatric disorders, including in older adults. However, the use of these medications in older adults can be associated with a higher risk of adverse effects such as cardiovascular ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Cooperation, Trust and Social Capital in Southeast Asian Urban Slums [PDF]

open access: yes
We conduct experiments in urban slums to measure trust and cooperation and to see how behavior varies with demographic factors and associational measures of social capital.
