Localization of Cu/Zn-SOD and Mn-SOD in the Rat Cochlea
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1996Distributions of the copper/zinc-superoxide dismutase (Cu/Zn-SOD) and the manganese superoxide dismutase (Mn-SOD) in the rat cochlea were studied by immunohistochemistry with specific polyclonal antibodies to Mn-SOD and Cu/Zn-SOD. Coexpression of Mn-SOD and Cu/Zn-SOD was observed in the cochlear tissues with differing immunoactivity intensities.

Superoxide Scavengers and SOD or SOD Mimics
1990The evidence for the participation of O 2 - in many biological processes has been grown rapidly since the discovery of Superoxide dismutase (SOD) by McCord and Fridovich in 1969.1 It has been demonstrated, in numerous systems, that O 2 - exhibits deleterious properties and is a very toxic entity.2 ...

The pro‐oxidative activity of SOD and nitroxide SOD mimics
The FASEB Journal, 2000ABSTRACT Native Cu,Zn‐SOD and synthetic SOD mimics sometimes demonstrate an apparently anomalous bell‐shaped dose‐response relationship when protecting various biological systems from oxidative stress. Several mechanisms have been proposed to account for such an effect, including: overproduction of H
