Improvement of fire reaction and mould growth resistance of a new bio-based thermal insulation material [PDF]
In the present paper, the performance of an innovative thermal insulation rigid board is evaluated in terms of fire behaviour and fungal resistance. The board is based on vegetal pith and a natural gum (corn pith and sodium alginate) and it is completely

Biofabrics from Sodium Alginate
This was a study meant to understand the properties and nature of biofabrics made with the help of sodium alginate, which is an extract of brown seaweed, sodium alginate as a substance is often used for baking purposes. The research aimed at the making of biofabrics from many different organic and inorganic materials like tea, beetroot, coffee, sugar ...

The crystallization of Hydroxyapatite in the presence of sodium alginate
The effect of sodium alginate on the crystal growth of hydroxyapatite (HAP) was investigated at sustained supersaturation by the constant composition technique. Sodium alginate was found to inhibit HAP crystal growth at low concentrations and reduced the crystal growth rates by 42-86% for inhibitor concentrations of 2.1x10(-7)-12.6x10(-7) mol/l.
