The crystallization of Hydroxyapatite in the presence of sodium alginate

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science: Materials in Medicine, 2005
The effect of sodium alginate on the crystal growth of hydroxyapatite (HAP) was investigated at sustained supersaturation by the constant composition technique. Sodium alginate was found to inhibit HAP crystal growth at low concentrations and reduced the crystal growth rates by 42-86% for inhibitor concentrations of 2.1x10(-7)-12.6x10(-7) mol/l.

Towards a better understanding on agglomeration mechanisms and thermodynamic properties of TiO2 nanoparticles interacting with natural organic matter [PDF]

open access: yesWater Research 80, 139 - 148 (2015), 2015
Interaction between engineered nanoparticles and natural organic matter is investigated by measuring the exchanged heat during binding process with isothermal titration calorimetry. TiO2 anatase nanoparticles and alginate are used as engineered nanoparticles and natural organic matter to get an insight into the thermodynamic association properties and ...

Optimal Preparation Protocol of Cell-Encapsulating Alginate Capsules for Long-Term Cell-Based Therapy

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Cell-based therapy is an excellent therapeutic modality that involves cell transplantation into patients; however, given that most transplanted cells die immediately post-transplantation, the application of this strategy remains limited.

HUVECs-encapsulation via Millimeter-sized Alginate Droplets [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Droplet microfluidics are a powerful approach for hydrogel cell encapsulations. Much of the field has focused on single-cell encapsulations with pico-nanoliter droplet volumes necessary for single-cell sequencing or high-throughput screening. These small volumes, however, limit the use of hydrogel droplets for tissue engineering or cell therapies.
