Sodium Borohydride–Mediated Transesterification

Synthetic Communications, 2010
In the presence of sodium borohydride, esters react with alcohols with formation of the corresponding esters. The reaction is sensitive to the solvent, structure of the ester, and is often concurrent with reduction. Thioesters containing an ester group can be selectively cleaved by the reagent.

Hindered rotation of the borohydride ion in potassium and sodium borohydride

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1974
The hindered rotational energy levels of the borohydride ion in the high temperature phases of NaBH4 and KBH4 have been computed. The Hamiltonian which describes the motion of the borohydride ion in NaBH4 is invariant under the direct product group Ō × O, while the Hamiltonian for the borohydride ion in KBH4 is invariant under the direct product group ...
