Piezoelectric Biomaterials for Bone Regeneration: Roadmap from Dipole to Osteogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Piezoelectric biomaterials convert mechanical forces into electrical signals, offering novel strategies to restore and modulate bone microenvironments for tissue engineering. This review examines molecular dipole origins, spatial arrangements, and pseudo‐piezoelectric mechanisms and highlights dipole‐engineering techniques for osteogenesis regulation ...

Sodium Butyrate Ameliorates Streptozotocin-Induced Type 1 Diabetes in Mice by Inhibiting the HMGB1 Expression

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2018
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease characterized by the immune cell-mediated progressive destruction of pancreatic β-cells. High-mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1) has been recognized as a potential immune mediator to enhance the ...

The effect of sodium butyrate and cisplatin on expression of EMT markers

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2019
Histone modifications play a key role in the epigenetic regulation of gene transcription in cancer cells. Histone acetylations are regulated by two classes of enzymes, histone acetyltransferases (HATs) and histone deacetylases (HDACs). HDACs are increased in ovarian carcinomas and they are involved in carcinogenesis and resistance to chemotherapeutic ...

Nicotine Reprograms Aging‐Related Metabolism and Protects Against Motor Decline in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Long‐term oral nicotine intake protects against age‐related motor decline in mice without eliciting systemic toxicity. Integrated multi‐organ metabolomic profiling and longitudinal gut microbiota analyses reveal that nicotine induces coordinated remodeling of glycolipid and sphingolipid metabolism, enhances NAD⁺ bioavailability, and suppresses ceramide

Carrier‐Free Nanocapsule with Dual‐Target Capacity for Synergistically Restoring Inflammatory Microenvironment and Microbiota Dysbiosis in Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This manuscript presents a carrier‐free nanomedicine PCNPs@PEG‐Man with dual‐targeting for IBD. It resists harsh intestinal conditions, reduces oxidative stress, enhances drug uptake and retention, modulates inflammation, and reshapes gut microbiota, offering a safe and effective IBD therapy.

Regulation of the rat metallothionein-I gene by sodium butyrate [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1986
Sodium butyrate selectively induces accumulation of metallothionein-I (MT-I) RNA in H4IIE rat hepatoma cells. The induction is rapid; significant elevation in cytoplasmic MT-I RNA can be observed within three hours after exposure to 5 mM butyrate. Maximal levels of MT-I RNA are obtained after eight hours.

ACSS2‐Mediated Histone H4 Lysine 12 Crotonylation (H4K12cr) Alleviates Colitis via Enhancing Transcription of CLDN7

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Histone lysine crotonylation (Kcr) is a highly conserved posttranslational modification implicated with crucial biological processes. This study reveals that ACSS2‐mediated H4K12cr upregulated CLDN7 transcription to strengthen intestinal epithelial barrier.

Gut microbiota–derived short‐chain fatty acids regulate group 3 innate lymphoid cells in HCC

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Background and Aims Type 3 innate lymphoid cells (ILC3s) are essential for host defense against infection and tissue homeostasis. However, their role in the development of HCC has not been adequately confirmed. In this study, we investigated the immunomodulatory role of short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs) derived from intestinal microbiota in ILC3

Sodium butyrate in Irritable Bowel Syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Education, Health and Sport
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder characterized by abdominal pain, bloating, and altered bowel habits. Although its pathophysiology is not fully understood, factors such as gut microbiota imbalance, increased intestinal permeability, and low-grade inflammation are considered key contributors.

Ligilactobacillus Murinus and Lactobacillus Johnsonii Suppress Macrophage Pyroptosis in Atherosclerosis through Butyrate‐GPR109A‐GSDMD Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Oral aspirin administration induces intestinal expansion of Lactobacillus murinus and Lactobacillus johnsonii, which suppresses the progression of atherosclerosis. This microbial expansion significantly enhances butyrate production by providing lactate as a metabolic substrate, thereby fostering the growth of butyrate‐producing bacteria. Butyrate plays
