Specificity of the Sodium Chloride Appetite of Adrenalectomized Rats; Substitution of Lithium Chloride for Sodium Chloride

American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1958
A cafeteria or choice experiment was performed to determine the specificity of the NaCl appetite of adrenalectomized rats. In this experiment fluid intakes of male adrenalectomized rats were compared with those of male controls. All animals were allowed to choose freely between distilled water and a salt solution as drinking fluids.

Salt equivalence and temporal dominance of sensations of different sodium chloride substitutes in butter.

Journal of Dairy Research, 2013
Studies indicate a positive association between dietary salt intake and some diseases, which has promoted the tendency to reduce the sodium in foods.

Anharmonicity in Sodium Chloride

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1967
The full set of third-order elastic constants of NaCl was measured and compared to some combinations of these constants that have been reported in the literature. The Cauchy relations were found to be reasonably well satisfied. For NaCl, C111 is large (of the order of 1013 dyn/cm2) and negative, C112 and C166 are smaller (of the order of 0.5×1012 dyn ...

Water, Sodium, Potassium and Chloride

2014
The sudden disruption of excessive placental supply with fluids and electrolytes is challenging for neonatal physiology during the period of postnatal adaptation. Different from many other nutrients, the body experiences large changes in daily requirements during the first 7-14 postnatal days, and on the other hand does not tolerate conditions of ...

SODIUM CHLORIDE METABOLISM IN CUTANEOUS BURNS AND ITS POSSIBLE SIGNIFICANCE FOR A RATIONAL THERAPY

, 1926
The disturbance of fluid balance following extensive cutaneous burns is a well known phenomenon. Even though the fluid intake is relatively great during the first twenty-four hours, there is a marked urinary suppression.
