The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

Improved pH buffering agent for sodium hypochlorite [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Sodium citrate/citric acid was found to be an effective buffer for pH control when used with sodium hypochlorite. The mixture does not corrode aluminum.

Influence of nutrition on feline calcium oxalate urolithiasis with emphasis on endogenous oxalate synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The prevalence of calcium oxalate (CaOx) uroliths detected in cats with lower urinary tract disease has shown a sharp increase over the last decades with a concomitant reciprocal decrease in the occurrence of struvite (magnesium ammonium phosphate ...

Sodium citrate and scurvy

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1920
An Italian child ten months old was brought to the Children's Clinic, Stanford Medical School, in October, 1919, suffering from severe scurvy. The child had been fed from birth on raw certified milk to which had been added sodium citrate in the proportion of one grain to each ounce of modified milk.A series of seventeen guinea pigs was fed on oats and ...

Subpar reporting of pre‐analytical variables in RNA‐focused blood plasma studies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical variables strongly influence the analysis of extracellular RNA (cell‐free RNA; exRNA) derived from blood plasma. Their reporting is essential to allow interpretation and replication of results. By evaluating 200 exRNA studies, we pinpoint a lack of reporting pre‐analytical variables associated with blood collection, plasma preparation ...

Extraction of glycyrrhizic acid by aqueous two-phase system formed by PEG and two environmentally friendly organic acid salts - sodium citrate and sodium tartrate

open access: yesGreen Processing and Synthesis, 2019
Two aqueous two-phase systems (ATPS’s) formed by using PEG and sodium citrate/sodium tartrate are applied and compared for extraction of glycyrrhizic acid (GA) from its stock solution. Their binodal curves and tie-lines are studied firstly.

Combined spatially resolved metabolomics and spatial transcriptomics reveal the mechanism of RACK1‐mediated fatty acid synthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors analyzed the spatial distributions of gene and metabolite profiles in cervical cancer through spatial transcriptomic and spatially resolved metabolomic techniques. Pivotal genes and metabolites within these cases were then identified and validated.

Global transcriptional responses of Pseudomonas syringae DC3000 to changes in iron bioavailability in vitro [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
BACKGROUND: Pseudomonas syringae pv tomato DC3000 (DC3000) is a Gram-negative model plant pathogen that is found in a wide variety of environments. To survive in these diverse conditions it must sense and respond to various environmental cues.
