Relationship between micellar lifetime and foamability of sodium dodecyl sulfate and sodium dodecyl sulfate/1-hexanol mixtures

Langmuir, 1991
The interface between air and surfactant solution expands rapidly during the foam generation process. Surfactant molecules in the solution should adsorb onto the newly created surface to stabilize foam. As surfactant monomers adsorb on the surface, micelles disintegrate to provide additional monomers to adsorb on the expanding interface of foam.

Protein contaminants of sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gels

Analytical Biochemistry, 1983
Many artifacts and confusing results have arisen following the use of sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and highly sensitive detection methods such as silver staining, in vitro iodination, and immunological reactions ("Western blotting").

X-Ray Powder Diffraction Data for Sodium Octyl Sulfate, Sodium Decyl Sulfate and Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate

Powder Diffraction, 1988
AbstractIndexed X-ray diffraction powder data for three homologous amphiphiles, sodium octyl sulfate (SOS), CH3[CH2]7 OSO3Na, sodium decyl sulfate, CH3[CH2]9OSO3Na (SDS), and sodium dodecyl sulfate CH3[CH2]11OSO3Na (SLS), are reported. Probable space groups for the three compounds are monoclinic P2[3], Pm[6], or P2/m[10].

Polydispersity of Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) Micelles

Langmuir, 1999
It has been argued previously that the effect of NaCl on the aggregation number of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) micelles is inconsistent with the observation that SDS micelles are fairly monodisperse. This inconsistency is resolved by arguing that the “effective micellar degree of dissociation”, α, decreases with increasing aggregation number to an ...
