Blunted Cystine–Glutamate Antiporter Function in the Nucleus Accumbens Promotes Cocaine-induced Drug Seeking [PDF]
Repeated cocaine alters glutamate neurotransmission, in part, by reducing cystine–glutamate exchange via system xc−, which maintains glutamate levels and receptor stimulation in the extrasynaptic compartment.

EFFECTS OF SODIUM GLUTAMATE ON THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
1) High concentration of sodium glutamate (as well as sodium aspartate) which is applied into grey matters of motor cortex in dogs, monkeys and men, generates clonic convulsions with very short latent periods.2) Small dose of sodium glutamate which is introduced into circulation in dogs improves the differentiation of conditioned salivary reflexes ...

Structure and Electrochemical Properties of ReS2‐LaFeO3 Nanocomposite for Dopamine Sensing
A novel ReS2‐LaFeO3 nanocomposite is developed for sensitive and reliable detection of dopamine (DA), an important neurotransmitter. The material performs well even in complex biological samples, demonstrating strong selectivity and accuracy. These findings highlight its potential for future applications in medical diagnostics and neuroscience research.

Circadian Regulation of Glutamate Transporters
L-glutamate is the major excitatory amino acid in the mammalian central nervous system (CNS). This neurotransmitter is essential for higher brain functions such as learning, cognition and memory.

Reduction in Phencyclidine Induced Sensorimotor Gating Deficits in the Rat Following Increased System Xc − Activity in the Medial Prefrontal Cortex [PDF]
Rationale: Aspects of schizophrenia, including deficits in sensorimotor gating, have been linked to glutamate dysfunction and/or oxidative stress in the prefrontal cortex. System xc −, a cystine–glutamate antiporter, is a poorly understood mechanism that

Transcranial photobiomodulation (PBM) enhances spatial working memory in healthy rats under both continuous and alternating stimulation protocols. At the neural level, PBM modulates cytochrome c oxidase activity, increases prefrontal and hippocampal synaptic markers, and induces region‐specific c‐Fos expression. These effects suggest improved cognitive

LRRC8A Regulates Outer Hair Cell Volume and Electromotility and is Required for Hearing
This study identifies LRRC8A‐dependent volume‐regulated anion channels (VRACs) as essential for cochlear outer hair cells' electromotility and auditory signal amplification. LRRC8A deficiency disrupts cell volume control, impairs auditory sensitivity, and causes deafness, while targeted LRRC8A re‐expression restores auditory function.

Neuronal and astroglial correlates underlying spatiotemporal Intrinsic Optical Signal in the rat hippocampal slice [PDF]
Widely used for mapping afferent activated brain areas in vivo, the label-free intrinsic optical signal (IOS) is mainly ascribed to blood volume changes subsequent to glial glutamate uptake.

Reduction of sodium content in spicy soups using monosodium glutamate
Excessive dietary sodium intake causes several diseases, such as hypertension, cardiovascular and renal disease, etc. Hence, reducing sodium intake has been highly recommended. In this study the effect of monosodium glutamate (MSG), as an umami substance, on saltiness and sodium reduction was investigated. The trained panellists were presented with ...
