Application of Sodium Selenite in the Prevention and Treatment of Cancers [PDF]
Selenium is an essential trace element that occurs in nature, in both inorganic and organic forms. This element participates in numerous biochemical processes, including antioxidant potential, but the mechanism of its anti-cancer action is still not well known. It should be noted that the anti-cancer properties of selenium depends on its chemical form,

THE EFFECT OF SODIUM SELENITE TREATMENT IN AN EXPERIMENTAL MODEL OF ACUTE GLYPHOSPHATE POISONING
Background. The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of using sodium selenite as a treatment for acute glyphosate poisoning using the activity of the lipid peroxidation and antioxidant defence systems as a readout for efficacy.

Impact of treatment planning target volumen (PTV) size on radiation induced diarrhoea following selenium supplementation in gynecologic radiation oncology - a subgroup analysis of a multicenter, phase III trial [PDF]
Background: In a previous analysis (Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 70:828-835,2010), we assessed whether an adjuvant supplementation with selenium (Se) improves Se status and reduces the radiation-induced side-effects of patients treated by adjuvant ...

Intra and extra cellular biosynthesis of selenium nanoparticles by unicellular and filamentous selenium tolerant fungi [PDF]
Fifty fungal isolates (filamentous and uni cellular) were screened for their ability to reduce sodium selenite (Na2Seo3). Out of those, twenty eight isolates displayed positive results therefore they were screened for their ability to tolerate higher ...

Interaction of alkylmercuric compounds with sodium selenite. II. Metabolism of methylmercuric chloride administered alone and in combination with sodium selenite in rats [PDF]
Repeated doses of sodium selenite (Se) were administered to rats receiving repeated (IV or PO) doses of 0.25 or 2.5 mg Hg/kg methylmercuric chloride (Me2(203)Hg). Se (0.5 mg/kg) was observed to alter the distribution of Me203Hg among tissues as well as among subcellular fractions of kidneys and liver.
