Preparation of silicate stalagmite from sodium silicate
Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2009Abstract Silicate stalagmites were prepared by a novel approach using sodium silicate as the silica source. Through the reaction of calcium carbonate (CaCO 3 ) with aluminum chloride solution, the produced CO 2 gas acted as both reactant and transport gas to carry aluminum ions (Al 3+ ).

Molding sands with water glass belong to the group of sands which are human and environment-friendly. Water glass as a binder of molding sands has been known since the middle of the twentieth century. Irreversible reactions, occurring between water glass and liquid hardeners (organic esters) or CO2, are applied for molding sand hardening.

Sodium silicates and sodium aluminosilicates
Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1978AbstractA highlight summary of the chemistry and commercial manufacturing processes involved in making sodium silicates and sodium aluminosilicates (zeolites) is presented. Some relative and current raw material costs and energy needs, and overall qualitative economic comparisons of the various processes are discussed.

Dicalcium Sodium Fluoride Silicate
Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 1997The title compound, Ca2NaF(SiO4), can be regarded as the sodium-rich end member of a series of solid-solution compounds related to tricalcium silicate (Ca3SiO5 or Ca2SiO4.CaO). The chemical formula of the series may be represented as Ca2SiO4.(CaO)1 − x.(NaF)x and the title compound has x close to 1.

Sodium-hydrogen interdiffusion in sodium silicate glasses
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1980Abstract The hydration of Na2O · 3 SiO2 glasses is studied using the sputter-induced photon spectrometry technique (SIPS) to measure the depth-profiles of hydrogen and sodium. The results clearly show a penetration of hydrogen and a leaching of sodium in the glass.

Sodium silicate activated clay brick
Bulletin of Engineering Geology and the Environment, 2008The paper discusses the addition of sodium hydroxide to readily available natural materials in Senegal, in order to produce stronger and more durable bricks. The case study involves the Tchieky clays which were mixed with varying amounts of NaOH and heated at temperatures of 40, 80 and 120°C for periods of up to 60 days.

Drying of sodium silicate solutions
Journal of Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology, 1971AbstractSodium silicate solutions with a silicon dioxide:sodium monoxide mole ratio of 3.41:1 were dried gently to give amorphous solids. These solids, together with the products obtained by heating them at various temperatures up to ∼ 200°c, were studied by differential thermal analysis, solubility tests and other techniques.
