Steroids from the Soft Coral Sinularia crassa [PDF]
One new sterol, crassarosterol A (1), and four new steroidal glycosides, crassarosterosides A–D (2–5) were isolated from the Formosan soft coral Sinularia crassa. The absolute configuration of 1 was determined using the Mosher’s method.

New Diterpenoids from Soft Coral Sarcophyton ehrenbergi [PDF]
Continuing chemical investigation on the acetone extracts of the soft coral Sarcophyton ehrenbergi collected off the coast of San-hsian-tai, Taitong County, Taiwan led to the isolation of two new diterpenoids, ehrenbergol C and acetyl ehrenberoxide B (1 and 2).

Abundance and physiology of dominant soft corals linked to water quality in Jakarta Bay, Indonesia [PDF]
Declining water quality is one of the main reasons of coral reef degradation in the Thousand Islands off the megacity Jakarta, Indonesia. Shifts in benthic community composition to higher soft coral abundances have been reported for many degraded reefs ...

Benefit of pulsation in soft corals [PDF]
Soft corals of the family Xeniidae exhibit a unique, rhythmic pulsation of their tentacles ( Movie S1 ), first noted by Lamarck nearly 200 y ago. However, the adaptive benefit of this perpetual, energetically costly motion is poorly understood.

Enzyme Inhibitors from Gorgonians and Soft Corals
For decades, gorgonians and soft corals have been considered promising sources of bioactive compounds, attracting the interest of scientists from different fields. As the most abundant bioactive compounds within these organisms, terpenoids, steroids, and alkaloids have received the highest coverage in the scientific literature.

Competitive interactions shape coral assemblages and govern the dynamics of coral ecosystems. Although competition is an ecological concept, the outcomes of competitive interactions are ultimately determined by patterns of gene expression. These patterns

Effects of polypropylene nanofibers on soft corals
Current information regarding the effects of both micro- and nano-plastic debris on coral reefs is limited; especially the toxicity onto corals from nano-plastics originating from secondary sources such as fibers from synthetic fabrics. Within this study, we exposed the alcyonacean coral Pinnigorgia flava to different concentrations of polypropylene ...

Laju Pertumbuhan dan Pertumbuhan Mutlak Karang Lunak Cladiella sp. pada Substrat yang Berbeda
Soft corals have a soft textured skeletal like tiny spikes made of calcium carbonate present in their tissues. In general, soft corals are attached to hard substrates in the bottom of the waters.

Isoprenoids from the Soft Coral Sarcophyton glaucum [PDF]
Five new isoprenoids, 3,4,8,16-tetra-epi-lobocrasol (1), 1,15β-epoxy-deoxysarcophine (2), 3,4-dihydro-4α,7β,8α-trihydroxy-Δ2-sarcophine (3), ent-sarcophyolide E (4), and 16-deacetyl- halicrasterol B (5) and ten known compounds 6‒15, were characterized from the marine soft coral Sarcophyton glaucum, collected off Taitung coastline. Their structures were
