Studies of Australian soft corals. XVIII. Further cembranoid diterpenes from soft corals of the genus Sarcophyton

Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1980
The structure of two new cembranoid diterpenes, (E,E,E)-7,8-epoxy-1- isopropyl-4,8,12-trimethylcyclotetradeca-1,3,11-triene (2) and (E,E,E)- 7,8-epoxy-1-isopropenyl-4,8,12-trimethylcyclotetradeca-1,3,11-triene (4), are reported. These two diterpenes (2) and (4) co-occur with the known cembranoid diterpene alcohol (3), sarcophytoxide (5) and sarcophine (

Studies of Australian soft corals. XXIV. Two cembranoid diterpenes from the soft coral Sinularia facile

Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1981
Extraction of the soft coral Sinularia facile afforded two cembranoid diterpenes whose structures and absolute configurations have been determined as (1R,4R,2E,7E,11E)-cembra-2,7,11-trien-4-ol (1) and (1R,3S,4S,7E,11E)-3,4-epoxycembra-7,11,15-triene (2).

Steroids from the soft coral Dendronephthya sp.

Steroids, 2005
Fifteen steroids were isolated from the soft coral Dendronephthya sp., of which five are determined as new compounds, namely (22E)-3-O-beta-formylcholest-5,22-diene (1), (22E)-3-O-beta-formyl-24-methyl-cholest-5,22-diene (2), 2-ethoxycarbonyl-2-beta-hydroxy-A-nor-cholest-5-ene-4-one (3), (22E)-2-ethoxycarbonyl-2-beta-hydroxy-A-nor-cholest-5,22-diene-4 ...

Lipophilic Defenses From Alcyonium Soft Corals of Antarctica

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 2013
Alcyonacean soft corals lack physical or skeletal defenses and their nematocyst system is weak, leading to the conclusion that soft corals mainly rely on chemistry for protection from predators and microbes. Defensive chemicals of primary and secondary metabolic origin are exuded in the mucus surface layer, explaining the general lack of heavy fouling ...

Studies of Australian soft corals. XXVI. Tetraprenylbenzoquinone derivatives from a Nephthea species of soft coral (Octocorallia, Alcyonacea)

Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1981
5-Methyl-2-tetraprenyl-p-benzoquinone (4) and its cyclized 2H-1- and 3,4-dihydro-2H-1-benzopyran derivatives (5) and (6) have been isolated from the soft coral Nephthea sp. Structures were assigned on the basis of spectroscopic evidence and the nature of the side chain in (4) and (5) was confirmed by micro-ozonolysis.
