A Multidirectional Textile Interface for Remote Control Using Dynamic Area‐Based Capacitance Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Here, we present a textile, wearable capacitive interface enabling multidirectional remote control by dynamically modulating electrode overlap and spacing via a freely gliding upper electrode. A forearm‐mounted prototype drives robotic and media tasks with 12–15 ms latency, maintains < 0.8% drift after 500 cycles, and remains stably functional at 90 ...

Grip and Grasp: Lizard Claw Inspired Robotic Manipulators

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Our study identifies the most effective lizard claw shape for use as an end effector in a bioinspired robotic manipulator. By examining key geometric features and combining them into comparative indices, the Crotaphytus collaris claw is found to be the best fit.

Verb Physics: Relative Physical Knowledge of Actions and Objects

open access: yes, 2017
Learning commonsense knowledge from natural language text is nontrivial due to reporting bias: people rarely state the obvious, e.g., "My house is bigger than me." However, while rarely stated explicitly, this trivial everyday knowledge does influence ...

Design and Modeling of a High‐Displacement, Skin‐Integrated Flexible Electromagnetic Actuator for Haptic Interfaces in Virtual Reality

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A flexible, skin‐integrated electromagnetic actuator is developed for wearable virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR) haptic systems. A tunable design model enables control over displacement and resonance frequency. The system is validated through a custom VR application with a 6 × 4 actuator array, demonstrating real‐time, spatially targeted tactile ...

EdemaFlex: textile-based soft-robotic platform toward personalized hand edema therapy

open access: yesnpj Flexible Electronics
Hand edema hinders mobility and quality of life, yet prevailing solutions—manual lymphatic drainage or bulky pneumatic devices—are costly, clinic-bound, and rarely personalized.

Brain Activation Pattern Caused by Soft Rehabilitation Glove and Virtual Reality Scenes: A Pilot fNIRS Study

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering
Clinical studies have proved significant improvements in hand motor function in stroke patients when assisted by robotic devices. However, there were few studies on neural activity changes in the brain during execution.
