Genetic Diversity of Pectobacterium spp. on Potato in Serbia

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2022
Pectobacterium is a diverse genus which comprises of multiple destructive bacterial species which cause soft rot/blackleg/wilt disease complex in a wide variety of crops by employing high levels of virulence factors. During the 2018, 2019 and 2020 potato

Comparative genomics and pangenome-oriented studies reveal high homogeneity of the agronomically relevant enterobacterial plant pathogen Dickeya solani

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2020
Background Dickeya solani is an important plant pathogenic bacterium causing severe losses in European potato production. This species draws a lot of attention due to its remarkable virulence, great devastating potential and easier spread in contrast to ...

Pectobacterium brasiliense 1692 Chemotactic Responses and the Role of Methyl-Accepting Chemotactic Proteins in Ecological Fitness

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
To adapt to changing environmental niches, bacteria require taxis, a movement toward or away from a stimulus (ligand). Chemotaxis has been studied in some members of the Soft Rot Pectobacteriaceae (SRP), particularly members of the genus Dickeya.

Detection of Potato Storage Disease via Gas Analysis: A Pilot Study Using Field Asymmetric Ion Mobility Spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Soft rot is a commonly occurring potato tuber disease that each year causes substantial losses to the food industry. Here, we explore the possibility of early detection of the disease via gas/vapor analysis, in a laboratory environment, using a recent ...

Genomic and Phenotypic Biology of Novel Strains of Dickeya zeae Isolated From Pineapple and Taro in Hawaii: Insights Into Genome Plasticity, Pathogenicity, and Virulence Determinants

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Dickeya zeae, a bacterial plant pathogen of the family Pectobacteriaceae, is responsible for a wide range of diseases on potato, maize, rice, banana, pineapple, taro, and ornamentals and significantly reduces crop production. D.

Host Specificity of the Dickeya Bacteriophage PP35 Is Directed by a Tail Spike Interaction With Bacterial O-Antigen, Enabling the Infection of Alternative Non-pathogenic Bacterial Host

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Dickeya solani is a recently emerged virulent bacterial potato pathogen that poses a major threat to world agriculture. Because of increasing antibiotic resistance and growing limitations in antibiotic use, alternative antibacterials such as ...

Pseudomonas PA14H7: Identification and Quantification of the 7-Hydroxytropolone Iron Complex as an Active Metabolite against Dickeya, the Causal Agent of Blackleg on the Potato Plant

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Soft rot Pectobacteriaceae (SRP), such as Pectobacterium and Dickeya, are phytopathogenic agents responsible for blackleg disease on several crops, such as potatoes, affecting the yield and depressing the seed production quality.

Spread of Xanthomonas fragariae in strawberry fields by machinery

open access: yesEPPO Bulletin, Volume 48, Issue 3, Page 569-577, December 2018., 2018
The spread of Xanthomonas fragariae in a strawberry field by mowing and runner cutting machinery was studied in the Netherlands during autumn. The blades of a rotary mower became heavily contaminated after trimming the leaves of symptomatic plants. Use of a contaminated mower resulted in infection of plants that were initially free of X.

Virulence Regulation and Lifestyle Transitions: The Role of c‐di‐GMP and Two‐Component Systems in Erwinia amylovora and Their Evolutionary Context Within Enterobacterales

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 2, February 2026.
Erwinia amylovora infects apple blossoms by activating the T3SS, then spreads systemically via amylovoran‐mediated biofilms. Transitions between motile and sessile states are regulated by key two‐component systems and c‐di‐GMP. This review summarises infection biology, virulence factors, regulatory networks and evolutionary insights underlying fire ...
