Soft compressive sensor design and analysis
In this paper, a methodology of designing an absolutely soft sensor based on Eco-Flex to detect compression stimuli is proposed. The fundamental structure of this soft sensor is a soft membrane sandwiched by two stretchable carbon grease electrodes, therefore the sensor as a capacitor can convert mechanical deformation to electrical signal.

A Low-Cost Soft Coiled Sensor for Soft Robots
Soft robots made from soft materials can closely emulate biological system using simple soft mechanical structures. Compared with traditional rigid-link robots, they are safe to work with humans and can adapt to confined environments. As a result, they are widely used for various robotic locomotions and manipulations.

Soft haptics using soft actuator and soft sensor
2016 6th IEEE International Conference on Biomedical Robotics and Biomechatronics (BioRob), 2016In this paper, we presented fabric-based soft tactile actuator and soft sensor. The force characterization result indicates that the actuator is able to produce force up to about 2.20(±0.017)N, when it is supplied with 80kPa of pressurized air. Hence it is capable of producing sufficient amount of force, which surpasses the human's haptic perception ...

A 3D Printed Soft Force Sensor for Soft Haptics
2020 3rd IEEE International Conference on Soft Robotics (RoboSoft), 2020Rehabilitation robotics is one of the major subfields in robotics that is growing rapidly. Neurological disorders, such as stroke, reduce the strength of muscles and the sensation of limbs of a stroke survivor. Soft haptics can be utilized to develop highly compliant soft biofeedback systems that comprise of soft sensors and actuators. Soft sensors are

Disruptive, Soft, Wearable Sensors
Advanced Materials, 2019AbstractThe wearable industry is on the rise, with a myriad of technical applications ranging from real‐time health monitoring, the Internet of Things, and robotics, to name but a few. However, there is a saying “wearable is not wearable” because the current market‐available wearable sensors are largely bulky and rigid, leading to uncomfortable wearing

An Optical Curvature Sensor for Soft Robots
2022For precise control of soft robots soft sensors are required to measure the current configuration of the robot. In this contribution a new simple, accurate and easy to fabricate soft optical curvature sensors is presented. The optical sensor is based on the light loss along several polymer optical cable (POF) pieces which are lined up.
