Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Promoting Active And Successful Ageing Through Bocce Game In Aging Adults In Rural Areas: A Qualitative Study

open access: yesİstanbul Üniversitesi Sosyoloji Dergisi
With the aging phenomenon of the population, the concepts of active and successful aging have gained importance. A risk to active and successful aging is the existence of infrastructural disadvantages such as limited access to health, education ...

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

Optimal Corrective Maintenance Policies via an Availability-Cost Hybrid Factor for Software Aging Systems

open access: yesMathematics
Availability is an important index for the evaluation of the performance of software aging systems. Although the corrective maintenance increases the system availability, the associated cost may be very high; therefore, the balancing of availability and ...

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Investigating the effect of using healthy aging software on teachers’knowledge of healthy aging [PDF]

open access: yes
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Both the increase of the elderly population in the world and the spread of chronic diseases have enhanced the need for training in the global village. One of these trainings is healthy aging one for the elderly.
