RNA interference (RNAi) is a widespread post-transcriptional silencing mechanism that targets homologous mRNA sequences for specific degradation. An RNAi-based pest management strategy is target-specific and considered a sustainable biopesticide. However,

ECOLOGY OF THE WHITE BACKED PLANTHOPPER, Sogatella furcifera IN RICE
Madras Agricultural Journal, 1996Field populations of S. furcifera (Horvath) at Coimbatore was generally very low and there was not much difference in the population level between the cultivars, Jaya and IR 36. Crops sown in the months of August to November harboured more hoppers. The population caught in the light traps was high during 1979-80 and very low during 1981-82.

AbstractSogatella furcifera (Hovarth) is a major rice pest with sexual dimorphism. The objective of the current research was to monitor differentially cytosine methylation at CCGG sequences in male and female adults of S. furcifera to determine the association between gene methylation and sexual phenotypes using methylation‐sensitive representational ...

Chitinase is used to degrade chitin in insect cuticles and the peritrophic matrix. In this study, the full-length cDNA sequence of a Cht gene (SfCht7) was identified and characterized from the white-black planthopper, Sogatella furcifera. The SfCht7 cDNA was 3148bp, contained an open reading frame of 2877bp and encoded 958 amino acids with a predicted ...

Take‐off behavior is crucial to the overall success of insect migration. Although most high‐altitude migratory flights commence with mass take‐offs around dusk and dawn, little is known about nighttime take‐off behavior.
