Distribution Characteristics of Cadmium in Soil Aggregates and Their Regulating Effects on Cd Bioavailability

open access: yesAgriculture
Soil aggregates play critical roles in regulating the behavior of heavy metal in soils. To understand the distribution of cadmium (Cd) in aggregates of different soil types, as well as their roles in regulating the Cd bioavailability of bulk soils, four ...

Searching the critical soil organic carbon threshold for satisfactory tilth conditions – test of the Dexter clay:carbon hypothesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The concern for deteriorating soil structure at low soil organic matter (SOM) contents calls for better knowledge of SOM interaction with soil minerals as well as guidelines for soil conservation.

Recent Advances in Laser‐Induced Graphene‐Based Gas Sensors: From Sensing Mechanisms to Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laser‐induced graphene (LIG) provides a scalable, laser‐direct‐written route to porous graphene architecture with tunable chemistry and defect density. Through heterojunction engineering, catalytic functionalization, and intrinsic self‐heating, LIG achieves highly sensitive and selective detection of NOX, NH3, H2, and humidity, supporting next ...

Polar Lattice‐Distorted Motifs Enable Synergy of Local Polarization/Dipole Fields for Concurrent Glyphosate Wastewater Remediation and CO Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photocatalytic treatment of glyphosate herbicide in agricultural wastewater is achieved through the cooperative effect of the local polarization field and dipole field mediated by lattice‐distorted carbon nitride. Glyphosate is completely degraded via selective C─P bond cleavage with a CO evolution rate of 1166 µmol g−1 h−1.

Aggregate pore and shape properties were more strongly correlated to soil organic carbon in large aggregates: Evidence from a long-term management-induced soil carbon gradient

open access: yesGeoderma
The interplay between soil structure and soil organic carbon (SOC) is complex and affects key soil functions. There is limited knowledge on how this relationship changes with the size of the structural unit studied.

Mapping the “Supply–Demand–Flow” of Ecosystem Services for Ecosystem Management in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a “supply–demand–flow” framework clarifies how ecosystem services move between regions by distinguishing potential and actual supply and demand. Using integrated biophysical–socioeconomic modeling, nine services in China were mapped.

Effect of Reforestation Tree Species on the Distribution and Stability of Purple Soil Aggregates

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao
[Objective] Afforestation following the Grain for Green initiative is a crucial measure to improve soil structure and reduce soil erosion. Understanding the mechanisms of the effects of afforestation tree species on the formation of soil aggregates can ...
