Experimental study on interaction mechanism between slope soil and pile- supported wharf subjected to yard loads

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
The back yard loads of a wharf can cause lateral displacements at sloping shoreline sites, posing a challenge to the safety of the infrastructures. With the engineering prototype of a typical pile-supported wharf in Tianjin Port area and based on a large-

Experimental study on impact of salt content on deformation characteristics of sodium sulfate soil under freeze-thaw conditions

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2017
Due to the sharp fluctuations of temperature in cold regions, salt may crystallize and water may freeze, resulting in the deformation of soil. In order to investigate the impact of salt content on soil deformation under freeze-thaw cycles, the freeze ...

Stabilized material point methods for coupled large deformation and fluid flow in porous materials

open access: yes, 2019
The material point method (MPM) has been increasingly used for the simulation of large deformation processes in fluid-infiltrated porous materials. For undrained poromechanical problems, however, standard MPMs are numerically unstable because they use ...

Polar Lattice‐Distorted Motifs Enable Synergy of Local Polarization/Dipole Fields for Concurrent Glyphosate Wastewater Remediation and CO Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photocatalytic treatment of glyphosate herbicide in agricultural wastewater is achieved through the cooperative effect of the local polarization field and dipole field mediated by lattice‐distorted carbon nitride. Glyphosate is completely degraded via selective C─P bond cleavage with a CO evolution rate of 1166 µmol g−1 h−1.

Model for soil-water characteristic curve considering grain-size distribution and deformation of soils

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
The particle-size distribution (PSD) of soils has been widely used in the estimation of soil-water characteristic curve (SWCC), and the pore-size distribution (POSD) of soils has an important effect on the SWCC, and the relationship between PSD and POSD ...

Cotton Recruits Soil‐Derived Delftia tsuruhatensis to Suppress Aphid Detoxification Via Salicylic Acid‐Mediated Defense

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study systematically reveals a complex interactive network involving plants, microbes, and insects, elucidating the ecological and molecular mechanisms by which cotton enhances its resistance to aphids through the active recruitment of the beneficial soil bacterium Delftia tsuruhatensis.

Calculation of soil deformation caused by construction of shield tunnels in composite layered strata

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
In order to solve the problem of soil deformation caused by shield construction under the condition of multi-layer horizontal soil covering on the upper part of the shield and the upper and lower horizontal layers in the excavation face, on the basis of ...

Interaction of piled foundation with a rupturing normal fault [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Post-seismic observations in the 1999 Kocaeli earthquake in Turkey have indicated that piled foundations may be less suitable than stiff mat foundations in defending a structure against a major normal fault rupturing underneath.
