Conformable Ferrimagnetic Tattoo Electrodes for Plant Electrophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The newly developed ferrimagnetic tattoo electrode is capable of measuring plant electrophysiological activity outside the Faraday cage. Its ability to adhere without damaging the plant tissue allows long‐term recordings. This premise opens new avenues for in‐field monitoring of plant health through electrophysiology.

Responses of physical properties of typical Mollisols to freeze–thaw cycles under simulated conditions

open access: yesGeoderma
Freeze-thaw cycles (FTCs) extensively and intensely occur in cold regions, significantly affecting soil properties. However, quantifying the impacts of FTCs at different initial conditions on soil properties is challenging due to the complex interactive ...

Hydrophobic 1D and 3D Anodic Alumina Radiative Coolers on Aluminum: Humidity‐Resilient Daytime Sub‐Ambient Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
1D and 3D nanoporous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) surfaces were functionalized with stearic acid (STA) to increase hydrophobicity and reduce the influence of humidity on radiative cooling performance. The STA coating improves cooling behavior under humid atmospheric conditions (Madrid summer), before while keeping the optical properties required for ...

Echinoderm‐Inspired Autonomy for Soft‐Legged Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Inspired by echinoderms, a modular soft robot achieves autonomous phototaxis without a central controller or explicit communication. Each limb independently adapts its actuation timing through local sensing and short‐term memory. Coordination emerges purely from physical interactions, demonstrating resilience to changes in morphology, environment, and ...

A Multidirectional Textile Interface for Remote Control Using Dynamic Area‐Based Capacitance Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Here, we present a textile, wearable capacitive interface enabling multidirectional remote control by dynamically modulating electrode overlap and spacing via a freely gliding upper electrode. A forearm‐mounted prototype drives robotic and media tasks with 12–15 ms latency, maintains < 0.8% drift after 500 cycles, and remains stably functional at 90 ...
