A Computational Analysis for Active Flow and Pressure Control Using Moving Roller Peristalsis

open access: yesComputation, 2021
Peristaltic motion arises in many physiological, medical, pharmaceutical and industrial processes. Control of the fluid volume rate and pressure is crucial for pumping applications, such as the infusion of intravenous liquid drugs, blood transportation ...

A Numerical Method for Predicting Acoustical Wave Propagation in Open Spaces

open access: yesInternational Scholarly Research Notices, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
We present a numerical methodology for evaluating wave propagation phenomena in two dimensions in the time domain with focus on the linear acoustic second‐order wave equation. An outline of the higher‐order compact discretization schemes followed by the time discretization technique is first presented.

Computational Analysis of Active and Passive Flow Control for Backward Facing Step

open access: yesComputation, 2022
The internal steady and unsteady flows with a frequency and amplitude are examined through a backward facing step (expansion ratio 2), for low Reynolds numbers (Re=400, Re=800), using the immersed boundary method. A lower part of the backward facing step

Humour, Transcendence, and Selfhood: An Essay on Lightness and Truth

open access: yesModern Theology, Volume 41, Issue 2, Page 311-336, April 2025.
Abstract This article is concerned with a ‘lightness that is as far as possible from triviality’. It argues, firstly, that a connection can be drawn between comic perception and pictures of reality that entail transcendence, understood as an otherness at the heart of things that may be indirectly glimpsed but never fully grasped as the object of fixed ...

Analytical Solution of Oscillatory Stokes Flow in a Porous Pipe with Spatiotemporally Periodic Suction/Injection

open access: yesApplied Mechanics, 2022
The study presents a generalized analytical solution of the laminar, oscillatory, creeping flow of an incompressible Newtonian fluid in a porous circular pipe with spatiotemporally periodic suction/injection at the wall.

HUMAN RIGHTS IN A GLOBAL WORLD: RACIALISATION AND RELIGION IN RATHLEF'S DIE MOHRINN ZU HAMBURG AND ZIEGLER'S DIE MOHRINN1

open access: yesGerman Life and Letters, Volume 78, Issue 1, Page 49-75, January 2025.
Abstract In Rathlef's and Ziegler's plays the need for human rights becomes tangible through the seemingly Other, disrupting the quotidian order of the (bourgeois) realm. The plays explore racial premises placed in close relationship with intertextual correlates, in particular bourgeois tragedies where the female protagonists embody complex moral ...
