Methodologies and Considerations in Evaluating Heat Stress Response and Thermotolerance of Pollen Grains

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 178, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
ABSTRACT Elevated temperatures severely disrupt pollen function, posing a major threat to agricultural productivity. While research into pollen thermotolerance is rapidly expanding, the quest to identify and develop heat‐tolerant crops is challenged by a lack of consistent methodological considerations and experimental design principles.

How many cows are in the desert? Molecular phylogeny and species delimitation of the genus Gyriosomus (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae: Pimeliinae) from the Atacama Desert

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 1, January‐March 2026.
The newly systematic rearrangement of Gyriosomus recognizes 9 clades, validates 21 taxonomical species and suggests 12 synonyms and 12 species candidates. Three taxonomical species were not evaluated. Polymorphisms, convergences and crypsis have been detected, and therefore morphology‐based taxonomy should be approached with caution. Ecological drivers

Diversity, Structural Dynamics, Regeneration Potential, and Endemism of Moist Evergreen Afromontane Forests in Ethiopia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Forestry Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The moist evergreen Afromontane forest (MEAF) in Ethiopia is characterized by unique species diversity and serves as the center of origin and diversity for Coffea arabica. A systematic review of MEAF in Ethiopia was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 protocol.
