Abstract In 1814, A.W. Roth received a herbarium collection of some 1500 plants from Benjamin Heyne. Most of these specimens came from southern India where Heyne had worked as a doctor and naturalist since 1792. Roth wrote up the material in his book Novae plantarum, which was published in 1821.

Solanum hirtum as a host plant for Mechanitis menapis menapis (Lepidoptera: Ithomiinae) in Colombia
Specimens of Mechanitis menapis menapis (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae: Ithomiinae) were collected from three localities in the Colombian Andes. Eggs and larvae found on the host plant were collected and studied under laboratory conditions.
