Toward an art of genomic selection in vegetable breeding

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 66, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract Genomic selection (GS) is a powerful strategy for accelerating genetic gain in plant breeding. While in recent years GS has been widely adopted in breeding programs for agronomic crops, its implementation in vegetable breeding has been comparatively limited.

Integrated Aquaponic Co‐Culture of Nile Tilapia and African Catfish: Effects on Plant Yield, Fish Growth, Nutrient Profile, and Heavy Metal Accumulation

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
An integrated aquaponic co‐culture system combining Nile tilapia and African catfish with eggplant was evaluated. Tilapia growth was consistent across treatments, while a slight reduction in catfish performance occurred with lower stocking density. Plant yield and nutrient profiles of fish showed no significant differences among treatments.

Performance of a Set of Eggplant (Solanum melongena) Lines With Introgressions From Its Wild Relative S. incanum Under Open Field and Screenhouse Conditions and Detection of QTLs

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
Introgression lines (ILs) of eggplant (Solanum melongena) represent a resource of high value for breeding and the genetic analysis of important traits. We have conducted a phenotypic evaluation in two environments (open field and screenhouse) of 16 ILs ...
