Van Allen Probes Observations of a Fundamental Poloidal Wave in the Plasmasphere
Abstract All past spacecraft observations of fundamental poloidal Alfvén (P1) waves attributed to ion drift resonance have been made outside the plasmasphere. In this study, we present the first spacecraft observations of a plasmaspheric P1 wave driven by that resonance.

Is Magnetic Reconnection Dominantly Spatially or Temporally Variable: First Results From TRACERS
Abstract The Tandem Reconnection And Cusp Electrodynamics Reconnaissance Satellites (TRACERS) small explorer mission was designed to: Determine whether magnetopause reconnection is primarily spatially or temporally variable for a range of solar wind conditions. Observations from the Analyzers for Cusp Ions (ACIs) on the two TRACERS spacecrafts are used

Reconnection Onset in Overstretched Thin Current Sheets: 3‐D Kinetic Picture
Abstract Evolution of the magnetotail equilibrium, whose current density iso‐contours are stretched beyond the magnetic field lines due to small ion anisotropy and agyrotropic effects on the scales of the thermal ion gyroradius (the so‐called overstretched thin current sheet) is considered using 3‐D explicit particle‐in‐cell simulations.

The influence of momentum addition on the acceleration of the solar and stellar winds
The influence of the momentum addition, which may be associated with the average or fluctuation transverse component of the magnetic field or others, on the acceleration the solar wind or stellar wind is studied in a local streamtube.

Abstract Increasing attention has been given to large‐scale disturbance electric fields in the inner radiation belt as a driver of drift‐periodic zebra stripe formations. Such disturbance electric fields have also been discussed as a possible driving mechanism of electron precipitation, transporting electrons below the inner belt and into the ...

Abstract We improved the Model for Analyzing the Terrestrial Exosphere (MATE), a kinetic exosphere model, by incorporating solar radiation pressure and Coriolis force arising from the Earth's revolution around the Sun, in addition to Earth's gravity, to investigate their impacts on the terrestrial exospheric hydrogen density. Under constant and uniform

Studying the surface effect in Procyon A as an F-type star
Context. Procyon A is an F-type main-sequence star in a binary system. It has been the subject of numerous ground-based and space-based observing campaigns, providing precise classical constraints, including a well-determined mass.

ELFIN Statistics of Electron Strong Diffusion in the Inner Magnetosphere
Abstract Pitch‐angle diffusion of trapped electrons driven by whistler‐mode and EMIC waves and by field‐line curvature scattering (FLCS) plays an important role in energetic and relativistic electron loss from the inner magnetosphere. The strong diffusion regime, characterized by a nearly full loss cone, rarely occurs, but is expected to account for a ...

A Catalog of M&M Eclipsing Binaries with TESS
We present a catalog of 1292 low-mass (M&M) short-period eclipsing binaries (EBs) observed by the TESS mission. EBs are useful for many aspects of stellar astrophysics, including calibrating stellar models, and catalogs of eclipsing binary properties ...

Asteroseismology of Stellar Populations in the Milky Way
The detection of radial and non-radial solar-like oscillations in thousands of G-K giants with CoRoT and Kepler is paving the road for detailed studies of stellar populations in the Galaxy.
