Polarisation of decayless kink oscillations of solar coronal loops. [PDF]

open access: yesNat Commun, 2023
Abstract Decayless kink oscillations of plasma loops in the solar corona may contain an answer to the enigmatic problem of solar and stellar coronal heating. The polarisation of the oscillations gives us a unique information about their excitation mechanisms and energy supply. However, unambiguous determination of

Dynamics of solar coronal loops [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2003
Observations in X-ray and EUV of the solar corona reveal the existence of very complex and dynamic structures made of plasma magnetically confined in loops. These structures can be studied by means of one-dimensional hydrodynamical loop models. Here we use a Lagrangian-remap code to simulate the dynamics of solar coronal loops with the purpose of ...

Coronal Loops: Observations and Modeling of Confined Plasma

open access: yesLiving Reviews in Solar Physics, 2014
Coronal loops are the building blocks of the X-ray bright solar corona. They owe their brightness to the dense confined plasma, and this review focuses on loops mostly as structures confining plasma.

Coronal Loop Detection Using Multiscale Convolutional Neural Networks

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2023
Solar magnetic fields play an important role in many solar activities, such as the solar wind, coronal mass ejections, and coronal oscillation. Coronal loops are curvilinear structures in the solar atmosphere and are closely related to coronal magnetic ...

High-order Harmonics of a Kink Wave and a Narrow Quasiperiodic Fast-propagating Wave Train Excited Simultaneously in a Plasma Resonator

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We present the observations of multimode kink waves and a narrow quasiperiodic fast-propagating (QFP) wave train in association with a jet on 2011 December 11.

SIMULATIONS OF SOLAR JETS CONFINED BY CORONAL LOOPS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2016
ABSTRACT Coronal jets are collimated, dynamic events that occur over a broad range of spatial scales in the solar corona. In the open magnetic field of coronal holes, jets form quasi-radial spires that can extend far out into the heliosphere, while in closed-field regions the jet outflows are confined to the corona.

A Possible Mechanism for the “Late Phase” in Stellar White-light Flares

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
M dwarf flares observed by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) sometimes exhibit a peak-bump light-curve morphology, characterized by a secondary, gradual peak well after the main, impulsive peak.

Steadiness of Coronal Heating

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The EUI instrument on the Solar Orbiter spacecraft has obtained the most stable, high-resolution images of the solar corona from its orbit with a perihelion near 0.4 au.

An AB Initio Approach to Solar Coronal Loops [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2005
Data from recent numerical simulations of the solar corona and transition region are analysed and the magnetic field connection between the low corona and the photosphere is found to be close to that of a potential field. The fieldline to fieldline displacements follow a power law distribution with typical displacements of just a few Mm.
