Solar wind parameters in rising phase of solar cycle 25: Similarities and differences with solar cycles 23 and 24

open access: yesSolar-Terrestrial Physics, 2023
Solar activity and solar wind parameters decreased significantly in solar cycles (SCs) 23–24. In this paper, we analyze solar wind measurements at the rising phase of SC 25 and compare them with similar data from the previous cycles. For this purpose, we

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

Solar Cycle Modulation of Nighttime Ozone Near the Mesopause as Observed by MLS

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, 2020
Eleven‐year solar cycle variations of nighttime ozone near the secondary ozone maximum layer in the mesosphere are analyzed with Aura Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) observations since 2004, fully covering solar cycle 24.

Solar Cycle 23: An Anomalous Cycle? [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2004
The latest SOHO VIRGO total solar irradiance (TSI) time series is analyzed using new solar variability measures obtained from full-disk solar images made at the San Fernando Observatory and the Mg II 280 nm index. We discuss the importance of solar cycle 23 as a magnetically simpler cycle and a variant from recent cycles.

Multimodal Soft Surgical Robots Enabled by Eco‐Degradable, Sterilizable Polymers and Transient Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A compostable PGS soft surgical robot with interchangeable modules integrates transient Mo tactile and Si thermal sensors for dual feedback. The device preserves its function after clinical‐grade sterilization, demonstrates stable actuation and cardiac tissue grasping with real‐time in vivo pulsatile monitoring, and biodegrades post‐use with soil‐safe,

How Solar Soft X-Ray Irradiance Is Affected by the Size of Field of View

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Soft X-ray images of the Sun obtained with multiple broadband filters provide a simple and useful method to calculate averaged coronal temperature and emission measure, from which we can further calculate solar X-ray irradiance in physical units, e.g ...

The Role of Ultra‐Thin Buffer Layers for Achieving Ultra‐Low Dark Currents in Single‐Component Organic Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, SubNc single‐component organic photodiodes (SC‐OPDs) are investigated, which achieve highly competitive performance metrics, including high EQE, ultra‐low JD, and high specific detectivity (D*). This study emphasizes the critical role of an organic buffer layer in studying the interface energetics and effects to achieve state‐of‐the‐art ...

Correlation between Supergranular Lane Widths and Sunspot Number; A Simple Way to Predict the Amplitude of Sunspot Cycle

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
The network structure seen in the solar images is the outline of supergranulation, which is the large-scale convection in the Sun with a size of about 30 Mm and a lifetime of 24 hr.

X‐Functionality–Driven Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution in 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a water‐based synthesis of 2D 4‐X‐PEA2SnI4 perovskite microcrystals with prominent photocatalytic (PC) activity for H2 production. The synergy between organic functionalization and HI‐derived iodide scavenges holes suppress octahedral distortion, and favor electron accumulation, enabling a PC H2 evolution ∼20 µmol·g−1 and long‐term stability ...
