Embedded solar tracking instrumentation system

2013 IEEE 7th International Power Engineering and Optimization Conference (PEOCO), 2013
This paper describes the embedded solar tracking instrumentation system by using Atmega32 microcontroller. The system consists of Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor, DC motor and Xbee wireless system. Atmega32 microcontroller is the main component for controlling the system.

Instrumentation in Solar Energy Applications

1987
Solar thermal systems are becoming widely popular and efficient in low temperature and medium temperature applications such as solar water heating, industrial process steam and power generation. These systems are to be designed for efficient functioning during their operation under varying conditions of solar radiation, weather, day and night times ...

Solar Irradiance: Instrument-Based Advances

Proceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2018
AbstractVariations of the total solar irradiance (TSI) over long periods of time provide natural Earth-climate forcing and are thus important to monitor. Variations over a solar cycle are at the 0.1 % level. Variations on multi-decadal to century timescales are (fortunately for our climate stability) very small, which drives the need for highly ...

Measuring the Internal ‘Seeing’ of Solar Instruments

Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia, 1967
The wavefront from a celestial source is believed to arrive at the outer fringe of the Earth’s atmosphere as a truly plane wave of effectively infinite extent. After propagating through our refractively non-uniform atmosphere this wavefront becomes distorted in shape and exhibits a nonuniform amplitude distribution.
