Sunrise to sunset optimization of thin film antireflective coatings for encapsulated, planar silicon solar cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present an approach for the optimization of thin film antireflective coatings for encapsulated planar silicon solar cells in which the variations in the incident spectra and angle of incidence (AOI) over a typical day are fully considered.

Determinants of skin sensitivity to solar irradiation [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 2003
Acute effects of UV irradiation include UV-induced erythema. Sunlight plays an important role in the development of skin cancer. Several predictive factors of UV-induced erythema could also be predictive for skin cancer. Our objective was to quantitatively assess phenotypical and nutritional determinants of sensitivity to UV irradiation, as assessed by ...

Highly Anisotropic Quasi‐Direct Organic Metal Halide Hybrids: A Platform for Polarization‐Sensitive Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
One‐dimensional C4N2H14PbBr4 is shown to have a quasi‐direct electronic band structure and strongly anisotropic transport with polarized broadband emission. A GW/Bethe–Salpeter excited‐state force formalism, supported by polarized Raman and temperature‐dependent photoluminescence, identifies low–frequency Pb–Br phonons that drive ultrafast exciton self‐

Mathematical model for predicting the performance of photovoltaic system with delayed solar irradiance

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science
Photovoltaic systems convert solar irradiance into electricity. Due to some factors, the amount of solar irradiance arriving at the solar photovoltaic collector at a specific location varies. The goal of this study was to develop a mathematical model for

Long-Term Variations of Global Solar Radiation and Atmospheric Constituents at Sodankylä in the Arctic

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2021
An empirical model of global solar irradiance (EMGSI) under all sky conditions was developed by using solar radiation and meteorological parameters at Sodankylä.

Shaping Carbon Nitrides for Advanced Macrostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review examines how carbon nitride can be shaped through a range of printing and interfacial assembly methods. By bringing together additive manufacturing and liquid–liquid structuring concepts, carbon nitride is moving beyond its traditional powder‐based photocatalyst form toward digitally designed robust macroscale architectures with high design

Experimental Assessment of the Meliss Simulation Model Accuracy of the Direct Solar Irradiance in Brasov, Romania

open access: yesAnnals of West University of Timisoara: Physics, 2018
The solar irradiance is the main input parameter when designing solar energy conversion systems. A poor accuracy of the solar irradiance simulation models negatively affect the output energy and the durability of the solar energy conversion system.

Solar irradiance in clear atmosphere: study of parameterisations of change with altitude [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Science and Research, 2011
Parameterisation of changes of the solar irradiance at ground level with a specific variable (e.g. solar zenithal angle, aerosol optical depth, altitude, etc.) is often used in operational processes because it saves computational time.

Cyclodextrin‐Functionalized Light‐Driven Cu2O Micromotors for Simultaneous Capture and Degradation of Bisphenol A

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Fuel‐free Cu2O‐based micromotors functionalized with β‐cyclodextrin actively remove bisphenol A from water under visible light. The cyclodextrin shell captures BPA and enhances micromotor motility, leading to faster degradation and higher overall removal than nonfunctionalized Cu2O and Cu2O@Au.
