Giant Spin Pumping at Polymer/Ferromagnet Interfaces for Hybrid Spintronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The integration of spintronic materials into flexible electronics takes a leap forward with efficient spin pumping across metal‐polymer interfaces. Despite large resistivity mismatch, a silicon‐based polymer (HSQ) demonstrates high spin mixing conductance (≈20 nm−2), possibly driven by spin‐orbital coupling, unveiling new opportunities for polymer ...

Wavelength‐Selective, High‐Speed, Self‐Powered Isotype Heterojunction n+‐ZnO/n‐Si Photodetector with Engineered and Tunable Spectral Response

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Wavelength‐selective ZnO/Si photodetectors, operating with no power supply. Engineering of the constituting materials converts them from white‐light sensitive to only NIR‐sensitive. When external power is applied, the wavelength selectivity of the devices can be tuned to different spectral ranges.

The Importance of Metal Ion Impurity Bands in the Photoluminescence of Halide Double Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Many publications have associated emission spectral features of double perovskite halides in the region at 460–470 nm with “pristine” materials. This leads to not only false observations but also incorrect conclusions concerning the transformation of dark into bright excitons or boosting self‐trapped exciton emission.

Magnetic Relaxation Seen in a Rapidly Evolving Light Bridge in a Sunspot

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report a magnetic relaxation process inside a sunspot associated with the evolution of a transient light bridge (LB). From high-resolution imaging and spectro-polarimetric data taken by the 1.6 m Goode Solar Telescope installed at Big Bear Solar ...

Optical Self‐Tuning of Ferroelectric Metasurfaces Infiltrated with Nematic Liquid Crystals via Photovoltaic Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A novel scheme is introduced to achieve optical self‐tuning in ferroelectric lithium niobate (LN) metasurfaces equipped with a thin film of liquid crystals (LCs). The resonant optical field distributions inside the meta‐atoms can induce a photovoltaic (PV) field, which reorients the surrounding LCs.

A Magnetic Pressure Difference Rule on Moving Bipolar Pores

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Solar pores are transient dark spots in the continuum images of the Sun. Their dynamics are closely associated with solar magnetic fields and plasma motion. Their motions have been found to be correlated with their magnetic pressure differences.

Toward Sustainable Photocatalysis: Addressing Deactivation and Environmental Impact of Anodized and Sol–Gel Photocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
A life‐cycle evaluation of TiO2 photocatalysts for water purification compares the effectiveness of Sol–Gel vs anodic oxides in tetracycline mineralization, targeting deactivation, regeneration, and environmental impact from a cradle‐to‐grave perspective.
