Effects of pigment volume concentration on radiative cooling properties of acrylic-based paints with calcium carbonate and hollow silicon dioxide microparticles

open access: yesInternational Journal of Sustainable Energy, 2023
Radiative cooling paints offer a sustainable method for reducing energy demand in buildings. This work investigates the effects of particle volume concentration (PVC) of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and hollow silicon dioxide (SiO2) microparticles in ...

Steering Oxygen Activation Pathways via Redox Dual‐Defects in 2D Hydrated WO3 for High‐Yield Singlet Oxygen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Redox dual‐defects (Cs substitution and O vacancies) in 2D hydrated WO3 steer O2 activation toward selective singlet oxygen evolution. WO‐CO achieves 8.6–15.8 times higher 1O2 production than single‐defect or pristine catalysts, enabling efficient pollutant mineralization via a pathway‐selective photocatalytic mechanism.

Solar Intensity X-Ray and Particle Spectrometer SIXS : Instrument Design and First Results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The Solar Intensity X-ray and particle Spectrometer (SIXS) on the BepiColombo Mercury Planetary Orbiter ("Bepi") measures the direct solar X-rays, energetic protons, and electrons that bombard, and interact with, the Hermean surface.

Numerical Simulations of Solar Near-relativistic Electron Transport in the Heliosphere with Different Injection Source Models, the Continuous Model and the Random Cells Model

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We reproduce the time-intensity profiles of two solar near-relativistic electron events observed by ACE in interplanetary space, using numerical simulations of particle transport in the heliosphere with different injection source models.

Modeling the transport and anisotropy of energetic electrons in solar flares

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
Transport of energetic electrons in the flare loop is important to understanding nonthermal emissions in solar flares. In this work, we model the propagation of electrons by numerically solving the particle transport equation which includes the physics ...

Bandgap‐Engineered AlGaAs/GaAs Heterostructures for Wavelength‐Selective Dual‐Polarity Photoelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bandgap‐engineered AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures exhibit wavelength‐selective dual‐polarity photoelectrochemistry, switching from photocathodic to photoanodic response depending on excitation wavelength. The polarity transition is governed by band‐selective absorption, built‐in electric‐field‐driven carrier transport, and interfacial charge‐transfer ...

Light trapping in fluorescent solar collectors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A fluorescent solar collector (FSC) is an optoelectronic waveguide device that can concentrate both diffuse and direct sunlight onto a solar cell which is then converted to electricity.
