Solar Internal Rotation [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1998
With the flood of high quality helioseismic data from the instruments on the SOHO spacecraft (MDI/VIRGO/GOLF) and ground based instruments (e.g. GONG, LOWL, BiSON, IRIS, MWO-CrAO and TON) we have been able to get increasingly detailed information on the rotation and other large scale flows in the solar interior. Here we will discuss some of the ...

On rotation of solar filaments [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2006
The study of the differential rotation law is an important issue in solar physics. Earlier studies of filaments found formulae for their differential rotation at stable existence stage. This paper relies on Big Bear Solar Observatory H-alpha filtergrams to estimate angular velocities of quiescent filaments at different stages of existence.

Development and application of a global magnetic field evolution model for the solar corona

open access: yes, 2009
Magnetic fields are fundamental to the structure and dynamics of the Sun’s corona. Observations show them to be locally complex, with highly sheared and twisted fields visible in solar filaments/prominences.

Transition from axi- to nonaxisymmetric dynamo modes in spherical convection models of solar-like stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Context. Both dynamo theory and observations of stellar large-scale magnetic fields suggest a change from nearly axisymmetric configurations at solar rotation rates to nonaxisymmetric configurations for rapid rotation. Aims.

Chip‐Integrated Metasurface‐GaAsSb Nanowire Array Photodetectors for Single‐Pixel Polarimetric Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A 2×2 multiplexed GaAsSb nanowire photodetector array integrated with L‐shaped metasurfaces is developed for miniaturized infrared polarimetry. Leveraging non‐radiating anapole states that facilitate near‐field enhancement, the device demonstrates strong polarization selectivity at 835 nm.

Solar Coronal Rotation from 1973 to 2017: An Analytical Approach Based on Coronal Hole Areas

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Solar coronal rotation exhibits significant complexity, and its relationship with the 11 yr solar cycle remains poorly understood. Using 597 McIntosh synoptic maps (CR1601–CR2197), we construct the temporal evolution of coronal rotation by performing ...

Solar Panel Rotation System

open access: yes, 2014
Solar energy is becoming a more sought after resource as consumers desire to become more eco-friendly. Solar panels collect energy from the sun and store it in batteries for consumers to use as is necessary. In order for solar panels to be most efficient,

Rotation curve of the Milky Way

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
We use SEGUE and Hipparcos data to restrict the behaviour of the rotation curve of the Milky Way in the solar neighbourhood. Then we construct a density model of the Milky Way which best reproduces the available observations of the rotation curve and is ...

Advances in Electroactive Liquid Crystal Elastomers for Intelligent Robotics and Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Electroactive liquid crystal elastomers (eLCEs) integrate molecular anisotropy with electrical functionality to enable programmable actuation and reconfigurable electronics. This review classifies eLCEs into robotic actuators and adaptive electronics, summarizes key actuation mechanisms, and highlights fabrication strategies that bridge materials to ...
