Soil solarization: a sustainable method for weed management

open access: yes, 2017
Solar heating of soils, better known as soil solarization, involves heating moist and mulched soil (with a transparent polyethylene film) for several weeks.

Halide Composition Controls Phase Morphology and Device Specific Performance in Perovskite Photovoltaics and Light Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that halide composition determines phase morphology, governing distinct operating mechanisms in mixed halide perovskites. Phase segregating 75% Br compositions enhance solar cell performance, whereas intrinsically phase‐separated 95% Br compositions provide stable light emitting diodes.

Integrated Disease Management of Fusarium Crown and Root Rot of Greenhouse–Grown Tomato in Eastern Mediterranean Region of Turkey

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences, 2013
Fusarium crown and root rot of tomato caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. radicis-lycopersici (FORL) is the most important disease that causes economically important losses on greenhouse-grown tomato in the Eastern Mediterranean region of Turkey.

High‐Performance, Air‐Stable and Eco‐Friendly Terpene‐Processed Organic Solar Cells via Solvent‐Composition‐Controlled Film Formation Kinetics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solvent‐composition‐controlled film formation enables high‐performance (efficiency = 18.66%) and air‐stable terpene‐processed organic solar cells. An optimized eucalyptol/tetralin ratio of 50:50 (v/v) balances molecular solvation and aggregation kinetics, producing favorable nanoscale phase separation and vertical composition gradients.

Effects of Soil Solarization on Nematodes Parasitic to Chickpea and Pigeonpea [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Solarization by covering the soil with transparent polyethylene sheets during the summer months (April, May, June) in 1984 and 1985 significantly (P = 0.01) reduced the population densities of nematodes (Heterodera cajani, Rotylenchulus reniformis ...

Ligand Assisted Epitaxial Growth of CsPbBr3 Microcrystal Resonators With Record ‐Low Lasing Thresholds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐based ligand‐assisted epitaxial growth (LAEG) yields high‐quality CsPbBr3 microcrystals on different substrates with superior morphology, passivated surfaces, and high photoluminescence quantum yield. These robust micro‐resonators achieve record‐low room‐temperature lasing thresholds of 7.2 kW·cm−2 and maintain operational stability up to 90 ...

Bio‐Inspired Multifunctional Superhydrophilic Coatings With Remarkably Fast Self‐Healing Abilities

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We developed bio‐inspired multifunctional hydrogel‐based coatings that exhibit extremely fast/repeatable self‐healing abilities, long‐lasting anti‐fogging performance, superhydrophilicity in air, and underwater superoleophobicity. By doping multivalent metal‐ions into the hydrogel networks, which promoted hydrogen bonding formation and enhanced the ...

Soil solarization for managing weeds in brinjal (Solanum melongena) nursery

open access: yes, 2006
Soil solarization is a technique used for weed control in regions with high level of solar radiations. Soil solarization for 35 or 45 days decreased the emergence of annual weeds by over 90 %.
