Actuation Strategies for Underwater Jet‐Propelled Soft Robots

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review article examines jet‐propulsion mechanisms in underwater soft robotic systems, focusing exclusively on physically fabricated and experimentally validated robots. Covering research published from 2013 to 2025, this study classifies and evaluates jet‐propulsion robots based on their actuation mechanisms.

Wild Solenoids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A weak solenoid is a foliated space defined as the inverse limit of finite coverings of a closed compact manifold M. The monodromy of a weak solenoid defines an equicontinuous minimal action on a Cantor space X by the fundamental group G of M.

Experimental study of passive compensation of space charge at the Los Alamos National Laboratory Proton Storage Ring

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 1999
The inductance of the vacuum chamber of the Proton Storage Ring at Los Alamos National Laboratory was intentionally increased by the introduction of ferrite rings to counteract the longitudinal space-charge effect of the intense beam.

Exploiting Device Deformability for Fluid and Particle Manipulation

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Deformable devices enable fluid and particle manipulation modes that are inaccessible to rigid platforms. This review examines soft materials and architectures that translate controlled deformation into microscale fluid operations such as pumping, valving, mixing, and particle handling.

Electromechanical Energy-Based 3D-Controllable Motion of Small Matter toward Tiny Machines

open access: yesEnergies
Is it possible to remotely operate a tiny piece of matter or a less-than-one-centimeter machine to perform a medical task in life? Especially given that in the present technology, neither the mechanism nor battery is small enough to be set up inside the ...

Influence of an Electromagnetic Field on Direct Reduction of Iron Oxide Using Hydrogen as a Reducing Agent

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This study investigates the reduction of pure iron oxides and industrial iron ore using hydrogen gas as a reducing agent. Additionally, to determine whether the reduction process can be accelerated, electromagnetic fields of 50 Hz and 25 kHz were applied.

Applications of compact topological graph c*-algebras to noncommutative solenoids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We study the KMS states of the Toeplitz extension of the noncommutative solenoids introduced by Latremoliere and Packer. We demonstrate that noncommutative solenoids cannot be constructed as a direct limit of C*-algebras arising from inverse sequences of
