Perceived Impacts and Predictors of Cannabis Products used by Rheumatology Patients in Alberta: A Multivariable Analysis of Cross‐sectional Survey Data

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective This study aimed to characterize cannabis product choices (cannabinoid content and formulation) among rheumatology patients, and their associations with patient factors, patient reported perceived side effects and positive impacts. Methods An online survey (delivered from March to November 2022) was distributed by Alberta Health Services to ...

Wave Propagation In Water-Saturated Sand And Grain Contact Physics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Measurements in sandy ocean sediments over a broad range of frequencies show that the sound speed dispersion is significantly greater than that predicted by the Biot-Stoll model with constant coefficients, and the observed sound attenuation does not seem

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Tangential Contact Stiffness Model of Solid-Liquid Interface Under Mixed Lubrication

open access: yesIEEE Access
In order to analyze and predict the performance of mechanical structure and system, the tangential contact of solid-liquid interface under normal and tangential loads is studied, and the tangential stiffness model of rough surfaces is established by ...

Interparticle friction leads to non-monotonic flow curves and hysteresis in viscous suspensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Hysteresis is a major feature of the solid-liquid transition in granular materials. This property, by allowing metastable states, can potentially yield catastrophic phenomena such as earthquakes or aerial landslides.

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

High-Order Unstructured Lagrangian One-Step WENO Finite Volume Schemes for Non-Conservative Hyperbolic Systems: Applications to Compressible Multi-Phase Flows

open access: yes, 2013
In this article we present the first better than second order accurate unstructured Lagrangian-type one-step WENO finite volume scheme for the solution of hyperbolic partial differential equations with non-conservative products.

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

A Multiscale Theoretical Analysis of the Mechanical, Thermal, and Electrical Characteristics of Rough Contact Interfaces Demonstrating Fractal Behavior

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering, 2020
The highly complex contact interface phenomena require analysis at different length scales ranging from nanometer up to nearly centimeter scales. When two nominally smooth surfaces are brought into contact, solid-solid interaction across their contact ...

Modelling the dynamics of a sphere approaching and bouncing on a wall in a viscous fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The canonical configuration of a solid particle bouncing on a wall in a viscous fluid is considered here, focusing on rough particles as encountered in most of the laboratory experiments or applications.
