Condensed matter physics at surfaces and interfaces of solids [PDF]
This research program is focused on structural and elastic properties of crystalline solids and interfaces between solids. We are particularly interested in novel forms of structural ordering and the effects of this ordering on the lattice dynamical properties.

Taming of the wild group of magnetic translations
We use a theorem of Auslander and Kostant on the representation theory of solvable Lie-groups for the study of some groups necessary for the description of certain quasi-periodic systems of solid-state physics. We show that the magnetic translation group

Idealized Slab Plasma approach for the study of Warm Dense Matter
Recently, warm dense matter (WDM) has emerged as an interdisciplinary field that draws increasing interest in plasma physics, condensed matter physics, high pressure science, astrophysics, inertial confinement fusion, as well as materials science under ...

Dissipationless Directed Transport in Rocked Single-Band Quantum Dynamics
Using matter waves that are trapped in a deep optical lattice, dissipationless directed transport is demonstrated to occur if the single-band quantum dynamics is periodically tilted on one half of the lattice by a monochromatic field.

Recent Advances on the VAN Method
In the 1980s, Varotsos, Alexopoulos and Nomicos (VAN) introduced a short -term earthquake (EQ) prediction method based on measurements of the electric field of the Earth at various locations on the Earth’s surface.

Hydrodynamic charge and heat transport on inhomogeneous curved spaces [PDF]
We develop the theory of hydrodynamic charge and heat transport in strongly interacting quasi-relativistic systems on manifolds with inhomogeneous spatial curvature.

Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Time crystal platform: from quasi-crystal structures in time to systems with exotic interactions
Time crystals are quantum many-body systems which, due to interactions between particles, are able to spontaneously self-organize their motion in a periodic way in time by analogy with the formation of crystalline structures in space in condensed matter ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.
