Solid phase extraction for removal of matrix effects in lipophilic marine toxin analysis by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The potential of solid phase extraction (SPE) clean-up has been assessed to reduce matrix effects (signal suppression or enhancement) in the liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC¿MS/MS) analysis of lipophilic marine toxins.

Development of a molecularly imprinted solid phase extraction sorbent for the selective removal of rivastigmine from serum samples

open access: yesReviews in Analytical Chemistry
A molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MISPE) sorbent has been developed for the separation of RIV from serum sample. Molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was prepared via non-covalent imprinting technique using RIV as a template molecule ...

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Erythropoietin modulates hepatic inflammation, glucose homeostasis, and soluble epoxide hydrolase and epoxides in high‐fat diet‐induced obese mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Erythropoietin administration suppresses hepatic soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) expression, leading to increased CYP‐derived epoxides. This is associated with a shift in hepatic macrophage polarization characterized by reduced M1 markers and increased M2 markers, along with reduced hepatic inflammation, suppressed hepatic lipogenesis, and attenuated ...

PEGylation of magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes for enhanced selectivity of dispersive solid phase extraction

open access: yes, 2017
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) possess large potential as extraction absorbents in solid phase extraction. They have been widely applied in biomedicine research, while very rare application in natural product chemistry has been reported.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Effect of pH and Stirring Speed on the Collagenous Protein Extraction from Chicken Bone Waste in a Well Agitated Extraction System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Chicken bones waste is commonly used for the production of animal feed and fertilizer. Fortunately, chicken bones are also rich in collagenous protein that possesses various functional properties.

SOLID-PHASE EXTRACTION OF PESTICIDE RESIDUES FROM SURFACE WATER USING A LAB-MADE LOWER-RETENTION SORBENT

open access: yes, 2018
Solid phase extraction (SPE) is one of the main sample preparation techniques. However, the cost of cartridges and the strong retention of hydrophobic compounds in traditional solid phases are limiting factors for their use.

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...
